General Electric Complaint

WJRR4170G1WW (hydrowave)

My ge with hydrowave went out in 1 year 7 months. It seems to be a problem related to motor / circuit board. Motors cost from $150 to over $200. I,m sticking with Kenmore washers

Wow! I had my GE Washer (model # WJRR4170G1WW) for one year and 7 months and now it won't spin dry my clothes. I have to remove the clothes and wring them with my hands. Next washer I purchase will not be a GE!

Mine just did the same thing after a year and 10 months! Repair guy ($68) said the new motor would be $228 + tax. Also noted that he was not a big fan of the GE washer for these reasons!

datguy, you should have read your own link instructions. All it says is that most Hydrowave problems are due to mode shifter or the motor, which must be repaired by pros with special tools and this costs so much that "you may be better off buying a new washer". Buyer beware!

take a look at this page, you could have saved a bunch of money by finding the instructions...
